Community usually meets remote on Mondays
About the Event
This is a form for new members or members that have taken a leave of absence. Currently active members only need to communicate that they'll continue to participate and attend meetings in order to continue their membership. New this session: Membership will expire after absences from 2 weeks worth of consecutive meetings and need to renewed at the start of the next session to continue.
MonRiverGames runs free student and community sessions of which participants learn a professional game studio workflow and work within large groups on new and current game projects. These projects were created by members. Sessions run concurrent to West Virginia University's Academic Calendar (Spring, Summer, Fall) as the studio is an experiential part of their Game Design, and Interactive Media program at West Virginia University.
Participants must be ages 18+. Prior experience is helpful, especially for leadership roles, but not required. These sessions are hybrid in the Spring and Fall sessions, and fully remote in the Summer Session. There is an in person component during Spring and Fall, required of participating "for-credit" students, but open to community member participation as well. It is recommended that you concentrate on developing a specific skill during each session with the studio, so that you have a more focused experience. Below is a schedule for the spring.
WVU student members start January 13 and meet on Mondays and Wednesdays in person at 4 pm at Allen Hall, 7th floor office suites.
Remote community members will meet through our discord server at 7 pm on Monday nights, starting January 27. Community members may join us in person, but are not required. We will usually provide an overview of what happened with students during these sessions and what tasks are available for community members.
